Like many of you, I’m still trying to process what happened during #Selenskjy’s meeting with #Trump. The significance of this event goes beyond what most commentators have discussed so far, and my interpretation might differ from the mainstream narrative.
In two of my previous blog posts, I outlined key principles that shed light on the growing divide between the #US and #Ukraine. 3 Years ago, I pointed out that the US was losing ground to emerging powers like #China, and that this shift would have far-reaching consequences. Additionally, I explored the concept of the “Mandate of Heaven”—a belief #Trump appears to embrace, especially after surviving the recent assassination attempt.
So, how does this all connect to yesterday’s events?
I believe the current tensions between the #US and #Ukraine, as well as the broader attempt to broker peace, are part of a much larger vision. #Trump doesn’t just see himself as an American leader—he sees himself as a global figure, perhaps even divinely chosen to reshape world order. In his mind, the world is being divided into three dominant spheres of power: the #US, #China, and #Russia.
Under this framework, Ukraine is no longer viewed as a #US responsibility but as a matter for #Russia to handle. Similarly, other global conflicts might be compartmentalized—#China taking charge in Asia, while the US shifts its focus to securing influence over Canada and Alaska. If this theory holds, we might see the #US taking a step back from direct involvement in European affairs, expecting #China and Russia to do the same when it comes to North American interests.
This explains why recent visits to Trump—whether from world leaders like #Selenskyj or before him, #Macron and #Starmer—are not just diplomatic meetings. #Trump doesn’t see himself as equal; he sees himself as the one they must consult, a figure above traditional alliances and political norms.
And that’s where the real danger lies. If Trump no longer views the #US as simply one power among allies but rather as the center of a new global hierarchy, then #Europe, in particular, may find itself sidelined. In his vision, traditional partnerships may no longer matter—what matters is who acknowledges his authority in this emerging order.
Yesterday’s meeting wasn’t just about #Ukraine. It may have been the first visible sign of a radical shift in how global power is structured. The question now is: how will the rest of the world respond?
